High End Systems Releases Hog 4 OS v1.2.0
May 31, 2013 - Austin, Texas
High End Systems has released the latest version of their wildly popular Hog4 OS software, version 1.2.0:
Version Information: 1.2.0 (build 540) May 30, 2013
Software Download: Hog 4, Full Boar 4, Road Hog 4: http://www.highend.com/support/controllers/Hog4.asp
Installation Instructions: All Hog 4 OS consoles require a full install of v1.2.0. Please refer to the Hog 4 OS help manual for detailed instructions on how to perform full installs on your console: http://www.highend.com/support/controllers/documents/html/en/index.htm
The function keys on the front panel now have an additional mode of operation called “command keys” which allows users to assign programmed show objects such as palettes, groups, lists, scenes, and keystroke macros to these keys for quick one button execution. For complete details on how to create, manage, and use command keys see section 18 of the Hog 4 OS help manual.
Master Wing 4 Support
Software v1.2.0 is the first Hog 4 OS software release to support Master Wing 4. The Master Wing 4 is supported on all Hog 4 OS consoles including Hog 4PC.
New options added to Flash Keys
The following options have been added to flash keys: assert, release, go, halt, back, restart, goto cmdline, goto, skip forward, and skip backward.
Pig + Playback keys = Release
Holding down the PIG key while pressing any playback key on a physical master will now release that master. Likewise, holding down the PIG key while pressing a command key linked to a list or scene will release that list or scene.
Animation added to Splash Screen at Startup
The start screen artwork has been replaced with a short startup animation, which plays in the splash window of the start screen when the console is booted.
Default Trackball Button Options Updated
The default trackball button options have been updated.
Encoder Wheel Button Option Added (fine mode)
A new preference has been added to the programming tab of the preferences window called “Encoder Wheel Button Option”. This preference allows users to change the functionality of the grey buttons located to the bottom left of each of the main encoder wheels (and the center encoder on the Hog 4). Note: the default setting of this option in new shows is “fine mode”. See section 4.9.5 of the help manual for complete details.
Option to “Automatically show kinds masking toolbar” added
A new option has been added to the programming tab of the preferences window called “Automatically show kinds masking toolbar”. When this option is turned ON the kinds masking toolbar will automatically appear when record, update, merge, or copy is pressed. When this option is turned OFF the user will need to manually open the kinds masking toolbar by pressing the “kind mask”. The “Automatically show kinds masking toolbar” option is turned ON by default for new shows.
New Comment Macro syntax for opening timecode toolbars tied to DPs
Users can now open timecode toolbars for DPs using the comment macro OTd#/# where the number before the slash indicates the DP8000 net number and the number after the slash indicates the timecode index for that DP8000 that you wish to display. For example OTd2/1 will open the timecode toolbar for DP8000 #2 / Index 1.
Help Manual Notes:
In section 25.2 of the Hog 4 OS Manual, step 6 of the full install procedure mentions the use of HID Mode on the consoles. This feature is now available on Road Hog 4 after v1.2.0 is installed.
