Blue Planet Lighting's work at the Cannabition Marijuana Museum in Las Vegas has recently been nominated for an Live Design Excellence in Installation Award. Blue Planet recently provided the lighting design, gear sale and installation of the world's first museum dedicated to Cannabis. The award honors visual and sound installation work in such venues as clubs, theaters, arenas, restaurants, and museums.
Cannabition is an immersive cannabis-themed art museum, right in the heart of Downtown Las Vegas. Cannabition is designed to include larger-than-life exhibits that take visitors on a seed-to-sack journey that celebrates the art, culture, and history surrounding cannabis use in America and around the world. In addition to hosting a number of immersive and interactive cannabis-themed art exhibits, Cannabition is also the home of the world’s largest functioning bong as well as Hunter S. Thompson's 'Red Shark' 1973 Chevrolet Caprice convertible.
In order to make this larger-than-life dream a reality, Cannabition teamed up with Blue Planet Lighting to design and install all of the lighting for their interactive exhibits. Each room in the museum is designed and lit specifically for selfies and social media posts.
A variety of lighting gear was specified into the design by Blue Planet co-owner Kelly Koster, including fixtures from Chauvet, Elation and American DJ. This all LED rig was installed by Blue Planet technicians Brad Royal and Jonathan Stanley while the programming was done by Kelsey Koster.
